Semi-Permanent Makeup in Milton Keynes

Ewelina Wysocka is a Multi Award Winning Semi Permanent Make Up Artist based in Buckinghamshire.

With bespoke, stunning cosmetic tattoos designed to match your features flawlessly, you can wake up every day looking your very best. Permanent make-up options include eyebrows, eyeliner and lips in a variety of styles, bringing you renewed confidence without the effort.

What is Semi-Permanent Makeup?

SPMU refers to delicate tattoos that are expertly designed and applied to resemble make-up. The process is very similar to receiving a regular tattoo, in that ink is applied to the dermal layer of the skin using a fine needle, but the technique and skill is very different.

This treatment is also referred to as “permanent make-up” or “cosmetic tattoo”.

Your artist will first assess your wants and natural features, spending time and care designing the perfect eyebrows, eyeliner or lips to suit your face. Once you’re happy with the design, the artist will begin the tattoo process using a bespoke combination of specialist pigments and a very fine, precise needle.

The result? Gorgeous, flawless make-up every day.

How long does Semi Permanent Make Up last?

Despite the name, semi-permanent makeup is a permanent procedure.

Due to the delicate nature of the tattoo, it is expected that it will fade over time, but not completely disappear. To maintain the full colour and shape of SPMU, we recommend scheduling Colour Boost appointments to top up any pigment your body has disposed of.

The first colour boost appointment should be scheduled approximately 12 months after your initial treatment, depending on your preference and degree of fading.

The benefits of Cosmetic Tattoos

Many people opt for semi-permanent make-up to replace the effort of having to apply their eyebrows, eyeliner or lipstick every day. This allows them to feel more confident with their natural beauty permanently enhanced.

Other reasons people typically turn to permanent make-up include camouflaging hair loss on their eyebrows or correcting uneven pigment on their lips.

Ready to book? Here’s what to expect

Initial consultation: Deciding to undergo a permanent make-up procedure takes time and consideration. The first step in this process is always a thorough consultation. During this consultation, you will discuss your goals with Ewelina, your SPMU artist.

She will assess your features, skin type and colour palette to offer her own consideration for your goals, as well as offer photos of previous work to give you an idea of what your own results may look like.

The consultation comes at a small fee to cover the practitioner’s time, however this fee is put towards your treatment, should you decide to go ahead.

Patch test: Once you know you would like to go ahead, you will be given a patch test to ensure you aren’t allergic to the pigments used. This simply involves a small amount of pigment applied discreetly to the skin (e.g. behind the ear).

The semi-permanent makeup procedure is completed over two sessions

Session One

This session will be scheduled for around 3 hours (depending on the area). We allow ample time for mapping the shape of your make up and determining the colour. Your design and colour will first be applied topically so that you can approve the design before commencing the treatment.

Once the design and pigment is agreed, the delicate process of tattooing begins, with Ewelina applying meticulous care and expertise to ensure a flawless result.

Session Two

It is expected that your body may respond to the initial treatment by disposing of a small amount of the ink – this is a normal response. We invite you back to the clinic after four weeks to assess this and offer a complementary colour boost at this stage if needed.

FAQs

Does a Cosmetic Tattoo hurt?

The process involves using a tiny needle to apply pigment to the dermal layer of your skin. This means it is a fairly superficial treatment, so while mild discomfort can be expected, most people find this very tolerable.

Due to the thickness and sensitivity of the skin, eyeliner and lip tattoos can be more uncom-fortable than eyebrows, but don’t worry, we do apply localised numbing cream if needed.

Can I wear make-up after my treatment?

It’s important to stay away from topical products such as make up until your skin is fully healed, as this can risk infection and potentially impact the end result of your treatment.
Once your skin is healed and providing there is no scabbing present, you can apply make up as normal.

What will I look like straight after my treatment?

Your SPMU will appear at it’s brightest and most saturated immediately after your treatment. You can also expect some redness and localised swelling to the area.

Don’t panic if your eyebrows initially look much darker than you expected! Over the days and weeks following your treatment, the pigment will soften.

What can I do to help the healing process?

You will receive full aftercare instructions from your artist advising you on precautions to take to ensure optimal healing. Instructions include avoiding potential contaminants, excess heat and vigorous exercise after your treatment.

Can I go in the sun before and after my treatment?

UV can cause damage to the skin that you may not notice, even on a cloudy day. We recommend keeping the area protected from sun exposure as much as possible for at least 7 days before and after your treatment to ensure optimal healing.

Avoid sunbeds altogether and, once the skin is healed, use SPF50+ when going outside to protect the skin and pigment.

Can I get lip fillers at the same time as semi-permanent lips?

If you are thinking of having lip filler, please disclose this with your practitioner during or before the consultation stage.

Changing the shape and fullness of your lips can impact the look of your SPMU, so your practitioner can advise on the best course of action if this is your goal.

Will my eyebrows have to be shaved off before SPMU?

No! Cosmetic eyebrow tattoos are an enhancement to, not a replacement of, your natural eyebrows, so there is no need to shave them.

Can I keep my eyelash extensions on during my cosmetic eyeliner tattoo treatment?

Eyelash extension should be removed at least one week prior to your SPMU application.
